Meet Outstanding Master鈥檚 In Petroleum Engineering Graduate Peng Zhang
Peng Zhang has been selected as one of the five finalists for the Fall 2021 Alumni Association Outstanding Master鈥檚 Graduate Award. He was nominated for the award by the Department of Petroleum Engineering in the College of Engineering.
Zhang will be recognized during the Graduate School Commencement ceremony on Friday, where he will receive a master of science in engineering degree in petroleum engineering.
Dr. Boyun Guo, an endowed professor in the department of petroleum engineering, director of the , and graduate coordinator offered Zhang鈥檚 nomination.
During his time in the master鈥檚 in engineering program, Zhang contributed to Guo鈥檚 research into oil and gas wells and developed several research papers.
His article, 鈥淣umerical Simulation of CO2 Migration into Cement Sheath of Oil/Gas Wells鈥 was published in the Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering (JNGSE) 鈥 鈥渢he best journal in oil and natural gas engineering research,鈥 Guo notes.
Zhang also has papers in review with the Journal of Electrostatistics and SPE Production & Operations.
He earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in civil engineering from the Northeast Electric Power University in China. He worked as a civil engineer at CHN Energy Ledong Power Generation Company for several years, then realized he wanted to deepen his knowledge through graduate studies.
With his master鈥檚 degree in hand, Zhang will now continue to advance his studies in petroleum engineering at UL 老司机福利网 through the doctoral program in systems engineering.
