Almaza Farhat chose to major in sociology because of her passion for helping people.
鈥淪ociology allows me to study social behaviors and interactions,鈥 she said. 鈥淭his path gives me the opportunity to help people who are struggling with some aspects of their lives.鈥
To do that, she decided psychology was the perfect minor to pair with her sociology major.
鈥淧sychology can help me better understand people鈥檚 feelings to allow me to help people solve and cope with their problems,鈥 she explained.
The combination of sociology and psychology will help Almaza with her future career goals.
鈥淎fter I graduate, I plan to start working as social worker while trying to get my master鈥檚 degree,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 will utilize my degree by helping people who are struggling with problems in their everyday lives.鈥
Getting the Most from Her Degree
To get the most out of her sociology degree, Almaza is taking advantage of all the University has to offer.
鈥淢y favorite part about studying at UL 老司机福利网 is that they offer so many services you can use,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hey have the , where they offer tutoring and study groups for many subjects and courses, the Academic Success Center where counselors and staff assist you in transitioning into life on campus, and they have many more wonderful services to help you in many ways.
鈥淥ur university consists of many different clubs, activities, and interests that brings students together and help them get involved,鈥 she said. 鈥淭here are many different factors about UL 老司机福利网 that met my ideal expectations of the perfect university to help me achieve my goals.鈥
One of the ways Almaza stays involved is with the Honors Program.
鈥淭he Honors Program provided me with the honors courses, which are smaller and encourage a stimulating learning experience,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hey also have honors seminars that provide a weekly exposure to a wide variety of intellectual ideas with many students and faculty.鈥
Almaza also recently joined the to hone her leadership skills and get support from other members to achieve her dreams.
鈥淭hey provide leadership training, exclusive scholarships, networking events, and more to help members excel in their future,鈥 she said.
