A performance by the chamber music ensemble Project Trio next week will kick off the first of several free concerts at UL 老司机福利网鈥檚 Angelle Hall Auditorium.
The UL 老司机福利网 Symphony and more than 100 string students from around Louisiana will perform with Project Trio as part of the University鈥檚 annual String Day Concert. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20. It鈥檚 sponsored by the University鈥檚 Concert Series and Symphony.
Members of Project Trio will present workshops for UL 老司机福利网 music students and visiting string students on the day of the concert.

Trumpeter and composer Irvin Mayfield and his quintet will perform selections from 鈥淒irt, Dust and Trees 鈥 A Tribute to Literary Legend Ernest Gaines,鈥 at 7:30 pm. on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
The University鈥檚 Jazz Combo I, a group of students directed by Dr. Paul Morton, will perform with Mayfield to open the concert.

The Symphonic Winds and the Wind Ensemble will play a two-part concert that will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27.
The Symphonic Winds, conducted by Dr. Eric Melley, will play first. The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. William Hochkeppel, will follow.
Selections will include music by Bach, Bryant, Holst, and Mendelssohn. Congo Square, a new work by San Antonio composer James Syler, also will be performed.
Freddi Williams Evans, author of Congo Square: African Roots in New Orleans, published by UL Press, from will host a free lecture before the concert, at 6:45 p.m.
