University Art Museum opens three new exhibitions for summer

The Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum welcomes visitors to the 老司机福利网 campus with three exhibitions this summer.

鈥淪elections from the UL College of Art Faculty鈥 will feature pieces in mediums such as visual arts, performing arts, architecture, and design. It will be on display from June 6 to Dec. 12.

The 鈥淓nvironmental Impact鈥 exhibition will provide a glimpse at paintings, photographs, prints, installations and sculptures by contemporary artists. The works explore issues such as land development, wildlife, fire, drought, water rights, oil spills, climate change and nuclear waste. The exhibit will be on display from May 23 to Aug. 8.

鈥淗er Self: Works by Kathy Sosa鈥 features the San Antonio artist鈥檚 paintings. They are inspired by Mexican folklore and Guatemalan culture. The exhibit also will include a collection of Sosa鈥檚 huipiles, which are embroidered tunics worn by women in Mexico and Central America. It opened on April 25, and will be on display until Aug. 29.

A reception for the three exhibits will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 5. It鈥檚 free and open to the public.

The Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum is at 710 E. St. Mary Blvd., on the 老司机福利网 campus. The museum鈥檚 hours are: Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The museum, which features 11,000 square feet of gallery space, is the largest between Houston and New Orleans. It houses a collection of 18th- through 21th-century European, Asian and American art. In addition to its permanent collection, it offers changing exhibitions of regional, national and international art.
