Summer Financial Aid

After you enroll in summer classes, the Financial Aid Office will review your eligibility for Summer financial aid. Since the summer session is the final term of the financial aid year at UL 老司机福利网, it is possible that you have exhausted all your federal aid options for student loans and grants. 

Eligibility 

You will be notified via your University email once the review process is complete. If you are eligible, you can then view your award offers on the Financial Aid & Scholarships card in ULink.

To be considered for summer financial aid, you must have completed the following steps:

  • Registered for Summer 2024 classes with at least half-time status.  If you reduce your summer credits after initial enrollment, your summer aid may be reduced.
    • Undergraduate - 6 hours
    • Graduate - 5 hours
  • Submitted a current 2023-2024 FAFSA at no later than June 30, 2024.

Transfer Students

If you are a transfer student, your summer aid eligibility may be limited based on aid received at your prior school.

Summer Visitors

If you are enrolled for summer only and currently pursuing a degree at another school with no plans to attend a regular fall/spring semester at UL 老司机福利网, you are NOT eligible for Federal Student Aid at UL 老司机福利网.

Sources of Summer Aid

Pell Grant

If you are eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant based on the information provided on your FAFSA, you may be eligible to receive Federal Pell Grant funds during the summer term.

Students who attend full-time during fall and spring semesters, must be enrolled at least half-time for summer to be considered for additional Pell Grant funds.  This is referred to as "Year-Round Pell."  The amount awarded will be prorated based on your enrollment, will not exceed 50% of the maximum amount listed on your Student Aid Report (SAR), and will count towards your maximum lifetime limit.

To be eligible for the additional Pell Grant funds, a student must:

  • Enroll in a degree or certificate program
  • Classify as an Undergraduate student (first Bachelor's degree only)
  • Meet the minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress standards
  • Enroll at least half-time (6 hours) for the summer semester
  • Have a Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility Usage (LEU) of 550% or below in the additional Pell Grant scheduled award semester.

Pell Grant recipients will be automatically awarded and accepted based on enrollment.  If you do not want to receive a Pell award for the summer semester, please email our department at finaid@louisiana.edu.

Loan Programs

A loan is money that you borrow and must pay back with interest. Loan funds are available through Federal Student Loans (subsidized, unsubsidized, Parent PLUS, etc.) or through Private Loan programs. Learn more about each loan program. 

  • Federal Student Loans - All remaining loan eligibility will be packaged as offered on your . 
  • Private Loans - Students or their parents may borrow through private loan programs if they have eligibility according to their cost of attendance. Students and their parents should consider all of their costs to determine how much money will be needed for summer attendance. the current Tuition and Fees schedule.
